Claire's Mini Album Tutorial

Hello , fellow paper crafters!!!

I hope you are enjoying the first blog challenge ??? I am really enjoying seeing everyone's interpretation of "anything goes" for this challenge i created a mini album using a 12 x 12 paper and used up some paper scraps and embellishments..

This is the mini album, today i am going to show you how you can make your own, really simple!!

Lets get started ...

you will need

12 x 12 card (mine was patterned on both sides)
double sided tape
paper trimmer
bone folder
paper scraps and embellishments

Cut your card at 6" , then score along the card at 4" do this on both the 6" strips.

Use your bone folder to fold the creases, fold in a concertina fold.

Decide which will be the front.

Use double sided tape to  stick both strips together.

And that's it , the construction is complete..

Now go grab your paper scraps and embellishments and make it your own :)

I like to include plain white card into these albums for journalling....

Hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and are inspired to make your own mini album !! They make great gifts too :)

Happy Crafting, Claire

Sarah's Pinwheel Tutorial

Hello all our crafty friends! I hope you're all enjoying our new blog challenge. I really enjoyed making my inspiration card for this challenge, it was lovely and summery and finished off with a spinning pinwheel. I had never made one before and decided to do a little tutorial on it so you could make one too! Here goes......

Firstly you need to decide on a paper to use. A double sided paper looks best and it needs to be quite lightweight so it bends into shape easily. Decide what size you would like to pinwheel to finish (I went for 3 inches) and cut a square of paper that size. Punch a hole in the centre.

Draw a line from each corner into the centre of the paper, stopping half an inch from the hole and then carefully cut with a craft knife or scissors. Punch holes in all 4 corners, making sure that you punch the hole in the same corners, either left or right of your cut lines.

To make the pinwheel stick cover a straw with a strip of pretty paper. It's best to put some double sided tape on the strip of paper and then carefully wrap around the straw. Punch a small hole about half an inch from the top.

Take a pretty brad that matches your paper and fold each corner into the centre so that all the holes match up and push the brad through to secure.

Finally, push the brad through the hole in the top of the straw and push the brad ends apart loosely so that everything holds in place but the pinwheel and still move around. Match your card elements to your pinwheel and then get creating!

I hope you find this useful and I will be back soon with some more ideas for you.

Happy crafting!
Sarah xx

Christmas Wreath Card Tutorial

Good Morning.

Welcome to Heather's first Design Team tutorial.  Today Heather has created this wonderful Wreath Card  made with funky Spots & Stripe Papers.

To find out how she has made this, follow her simple tutorial.

1. Using the X_Cut nesting circle dies, cut out a circle in 'Festive Spots and Stripes' by do crafts.  Make it large enough the cover your card underneath.

2. Cut out a further 6 medium circles and 6 of the smallest in contrasting papers.  Distress the edges using ink (I have used Tim Holtz Mown Lawn) or pierce around the circle.

3. Using two of the dies, cut out a hollow circle to fit within your large background and affix.

4. Place 5 of the medium circles onto the hollow circle to check they fit.  If you like, you can add small bunting like I have on the left of the card.  Fix the 5 circles down.

5. Take the smallest circle and die-cut an aperture so you can then add the remaining medium and small circle to the inside of the card, carefully ensuring when the card is shut you can see the sentiment.  I have inked a Happy Christmas sentiment onto mine using the free Lucy Cromwell at Christmas stamps that came with the July issue of Creativity Magazine by do crafts.

6. Layer up the remaining smaller circles onto the front of the card using buttons, flowers or ribbons.

We would love to see any creations you make using our tutorials and we would love to feature some of them here on our blog.  Please email us any pictures you have.

To see Heathers other fabulous creations you can visit her blog here.

Until next time ... Happy Crafting x
